UCLA Representative speaking to WCUSD students about college admissions
West Covina Unified hosts free college fair

The West Covina Unified School District is hosting its fourth annual college fair Sept. 26 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Edgewood Schools located at 1625 W. Durness St. in the city of West Covina.

Approximately 40 representatives from the most prestigious colleges will be in attendance. Representatives will be able to answer questions about programs, campus activities, housing, support services and admission requirements.

Personalized breakout sessions according to grade levels will also be available for families. The district encourages students of all grade levels to attend the fair and take advantage of the resources.

“It’s important for students in the earlier grade levels to be exposed to college before they transition to high school,” said Margaret Llamas, college and career coordinator. “We want to show them the endless amount of college and career paths available. For high school students, this event usually helps them kick-start their college research process.”

Food trucks will be available for dinner starting at 5:00 p.m. The college fair officially opens at 6 p.m.

Elementary and middle school breakout sessions start at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. These breakout sessions include strategies to prepare K-6 families for college readiness and success.

High school breakout sessions start at 5:30 p.m. and will include the following:

  • How to be College Ready and Afford It
    Location: Media Center
    • Session 1: 5:30 - 6:00 p.m.
    • Session 2: 6:30 - 7:00 p.m.
  • Financial Aid
    Location: Cafeteria
    • Session 1: 6:30 - 7:00 p.m.
    • Session 2: 7:00 - 7:30 p.m.

Hello Class of 2019 Seniors and Parents!

Senior Portraits took place on campus from August 2-7 with our official photographer PSS Imaging. If you missed taking your senior portrait during this window, you now have two options:

  1. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT to take your photo at the PSS Imaging Studio in Anaheim by October 1. You must schedule the appointment by October 1 and take the photo by October 19 to make it into the yearbook. The longer you wait, the less times/dates will be available, so don't wait to make an appointment
  2. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT to take your photo on the make-up dates at school on September 18-19 from 3 PM to 8 PM in the ASB room. This is the only on-campus make-up opportunity for the Senior Portraits. This is also by appointment only so please schedule an appointment before they fill up. It's first come, first serve. Please see the attached flyer.

To schedule an appointment, please visit www.pssimaging.net

**Some seniors will be called in on September 18 during the school day to make-up a photo for records & transcripts. This is NOT the same photo as the Senior Portrait. All seniors must have two photos taken: a photo for records/transcript and a Senior Portrait for the yearbook. The Senior Portrait MUST be taken with our official photographer PSS imaging for it to be included in the yearbook.
